ABOUT OUR HONOREES

The Board of Directors of MAC Angels Foundation is pleased to announce that Paul & Mary Caryl McEvoy will be honored with the 2017 “Halo of Hope” award.

Paul & M.C. McEvoy had first-hand experience with A.L.S. when Paul’s mother, Beth McEvoy, was diagnosed with the disease in 2002.  They were grateful that they lived nearby and were able to help care for Mrs. McEvoy during her journey with ALS.  During that time, they became very aware of the significant personal and financial resources necessary to care for a patient living with ALS.

A few years later, Paul & M.C. heard about Claire Gormley Collier and her struggle with ALS.  They were so moved by Claire’s situation that they immediately became involved as sponsors of the “Day for Claire” fundraising events.  The Gormley and Collier families will always be extremely grateful to the McEvoys for their unwavering support of Claire.  Their assistance helped to allow Claire to stay at home with her family during her journey with ALS.

When MAC Angels Foundation was formed in 2010, Paul & M.C. agreed to be founding members of the Foundation’s Board of Directors.  Their personal experience with ALS allowed them to be instrumental in helping to define the mission of the Foundation.  They also serve as representatives of MAC Angels at numerous events.  From cheering on cyclists at the top of “Claire’s Climb” during the Westchester Triathlon, to greeting cyclists at the MAC Angels-sponsored rest stop at the Tri-State Trek, to participating in the annual Blazeman Cycle-a-thon, the McEvoys continue to support MAC Angels and other ALS organizations.  In addition, through their Charitable Fund, Paul and M.C. have continued to be the leading financial sponsor of every MAC Angels Foundation fundraiser since our inception.

Paul continues to serve MAC Angels daily as President of the Board of Directors.  His commitment is evidenced not only by his day-to-day involvement in the operations of the Foundation, but also by his long-term vision for MAC Angels.

The MAC Angels Foundation would not be where it is today without the tremendous support of Paul & M.C. McEvoy.  They are true “Halos of Hope” and are extremely deserving of this honor.
