ALS
is a progressive neurodegenerative disease that affects nerve cells in
the brain and spinal cord. Over 30,000 people in the U.S. have ALS; every ninety minutes someone is diagnosed. ALS robs a person of the ability to walk, talk, eat, drink, and breathe,
while leaving the person fully-functioning mind trapped. There is NO known
cure, and the average life expectancy is 3-5 years post-diagnosis.
