ALS
is a progressive neurodegenerative disease that affects nerve cells in
the brain and spinal cord. Over 30,000 people in the U.S. have ALS; every ninety minutes someone is diagnosed. ALS has no racial, ethnic, or socioeconomic boundary and
can affect anyone. ALS robs you of the ability to walk, talk, eat, drink, and breathe,
while leaving your fully-functioning mind trapped. There is NO known
cure, and the few treatment options that exist extend life a short
period of time, around 2-3 months.
